Amphora applique papier-maché

A sculptural wall piece with a playful nod to history. This handmade wall applique merges the classical lines of an ancient amphora with the tactile, organic texture of papier-mâché and a bold, contemporary color palette. 

This piece is a modern reinterpretation of the 17th- and 18th-century bras d’applique: decorative candle sconces mounted onto walls to diffuse and reflect warm light across grand rooms.  

Each piece is individually built by hand from layers of papier-mâché, gently sanded, and painted freehand with striking graphic stripes. Due to the handmade process, every applique features subtle irregularities, rich texture, and distinct character.

Serving as an art piece by day and a cozy mood-maker by night. Only for fake candles!
